Responsibilities :

Our client is seeking a previz/layout artist with video game experience. This is a must for our client's needs.
  
  • Work in collaboration with Layout Supervisor to develop the style and role of the cameras in the overall cutscene/non-playable sequence experience. The ideal candidate would be eager to receive and follow creative directions from the Supervisor while finding every opportunity to collaborate in the artistic process of producing the cutscenes from scratch
  • The ideal candidate has the clear goal of producing an appealing and exciting visual story, successfully achieving the director's vision
  • Read the cutscene scripts to understand the emotions to be conveyed to the player
  • Define and set up cameras and all related parameters (focus, distance, frame, etc.) to ensure the best possible visual quality
  • Break down the storyboards with the Art director/Layout Sup to analyze optimal camera shots
  • High consistent standards of quality and speed
  • Able to modify more complex models and textures to complement their shots
  • Starting to anticipate revisions before they are given
  • Able to clearly identify and communicate potential problems.
  • Able to solve challenges in a creative and skillful way
  • Communicate clearly with production staff and manage multiple production tasks simultaneously
  • Assist newer artists that are working alongside them
  • Ability to operate independently with little or no supervision at all while producing a large amount of work

Qualifications :
  
  • 3+ years of experience in  game production as a previz and/or layout artist working on complex sequences and shots
  • UE5 knowledge is highly preferable, demonstrating experience using the video sequencer, integrating multiple camera cuts, multiple assets, adding and creating animation tracks
  • Strong understanding of Principles of Cinematography
  • Solid understanding of the Animation Principles
  • Proficient with animation blocking for previz and familiar with modeling, rigging, shading, etc.
  • High level understanding of camera work, lenses, and the visual language of photography
  • An artistic eye and a sense for composition
  • A creative mindset and passionate about games
  • Good communication and teamwork
  • Planning and organizing – ability to work on a number of priorities and turn around shots in a timely manner
Please note - All candidates outside of Canada for remote working in this studio offer full-time freelance contracts and must work EST Canada hours.
