Engineering Lead - Community Platform
Location: New York - Hybrid (3 in ,2 out)
We’re looking for an Engineering Lead to own the technical direction and day-to-day engineering operations of a community-focused web platform. This is a hands-on role combining technical leadership with team and delivery management, covering architecture, code standards, development, QA, monitoring, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
You’ll work closely with the Product team to shape roadmap priorities, translate requirements into actionable engineering work, and keep a distributed engineering team aligned and moving. You’ll also lead agile processes, mentor engineers, manage delivery risks, and act as a key link between engineering and the wider organisation.

What we’re looking for:
- 8+ years of software development experience
- 2+ years of engineering team management experience
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript experience across frontend, backend and databases
- Experience working with complex web systems
- Strong knowledge of Node.js, Nuxt/Vue, Apollo and GraphQL
- Experience running agile engineering processes
- Strong product collaboration and prioritisation skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Experience working with distributed, international teams
- 1+ years using AI technologies professionally
- Strong technical leadership and problem-solving ability
- Experience improving engineering practices and processes in fast-paced environments
- Technical mentorship experience
- Experience scaling or transitioning engineering teams
- Experience improving monitoring and incident response
- Experience establishing code review, QA and documentation standards
- Experience contributing to technical strategy and engineering roadmaps
