As an Animation Director, your key responsibilities will include working closely with the Art Director and Technical Art Director to develop and drive the artistic vision for the project and taking responsibility at the director level for all aspects of in-game and cutscene animation.

This will involve setting quality standards and leading the animation team in the delivery of these standards. You will also be responsible for supporting the recruitment and career development of the project's animation team, and bringing your own experience of best working practices to the team.

To fulfill these responsibilities, you will need to have proven experience as an Animation Director on at least one shipped PC or console title, preferably AAA. You should also have experience with motion capture pipelines, a deep understanding of the pitfalls, and the ability to make the right strategic decisions early on to avoid them. You should be experienced in directing motion capture shoots and performance capture, and have a strong cinematic background with a deep understanding of cinematic craft and tools.

Expert knowledge of the animation process and fundamentals is essential, as is previous experience with Unreal Engine or a proprietary engine. Familiarity with one or more types of animation software, such as Maya or MotionBuilder, is also important. Finally, you should have an understanding of mo-cap rigs at a high level.

This role is onsite or remote if you live or move to the UK.
