Principal DevOps Engineer
Location: Hamburg, Germany - Hybrid (3 in, 2 out)
We’re looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to help build, run, and improve the infrastructure behind our online games. In this role, you’ll lead key DevOps initiatives, guide technical decisions, and ensure our production systems remain stable, scalable, and efficient across high-load environments.
You’ll work with a broad modern stack spanning Google Cloud, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Ansible, monitoring and observability tools, and game backend systems. Alongside maintaining and improving deployment and automation workflows, you’ll collaborate closely with game development, product, and community teams, prototype new tools, optimize systems at both OS and application level, and contribute technical designs with clarity and precision.

What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in IT maintenance, systems administration, and automation
- Solid knowledge of database and network architecture, and systems integration
- Experience with high-load and high-availability systems
- Cloud experience, ideally with Google Cloud and Kubernetes-based tooling
- Familiarity with modern build systems, tech stacks, and toolchains
- Good skills in Java or another high-level programming language
- Experience shipping, developing, and running at least one commercial product or game
- Ability to document and communicate technical designs clearly
- Fluent English, written and verbal
- Passion for video games
- Experience with multiplayer PvP or online game development
- Familiarity with agile and scrum-based working environments
