Art Director – Barcelona, Spain

A leading mobile games studio is looking for an experienced Art Director to guide the artistic vision and lead a large multidisciplinary team on one of the world’s most successful casual mobile titles. This is a hybrid role based in Barcelona (onsite three days per week). Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are available.
We’re seeking a creative and strategic leader with a proven background in managing diverse art teams and setting a clear visual direction for mobile games. The role requires excellent leadership skills, deep artistic judgment, and the ability to align creative output with gameplay, narrative, and product goals.
What You’ll Do

• Define and uphold the game’s artistic vision in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Manage, mentor, and inspire a large art team across 2D, 3D, UI, Animation, and VFX.
• Oversee live operations content, ensuring consistent style and high-quality delivery.
• Partner with production and product teams to align strategies and deliverables.
• Lead brainstorming sessions, provide clear feedback, and maintain high creative standards.
• Monitor team health and development, supporting training and career progression.
• Represent the art team in cross-discipline discussions and ensure effective communication of goals.

What We’re Looking For

• Shipped at least one title as an Associate Art Director or Art Director.
• Strong portfolio showcasing whimsical or casual art styles.
• Proven experience leading large multidisciplinary art teams.
• Expert artistic judgment in form, perspective, composition, style, and color.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.
• Fluent English to lead and collaborate with international teams.
• Deep understanding of how art and design support gameplay, UX, and brand.

Bonus Points

• Experience working on recognized IPs.
• Shipped a successful mobile or casual game.
• Knowledge of Unity and mobile development pipelines.
