Game Designer (with Technical Skills) – PC & Console Game
Location: Remote (Europe-based) or Hybrid (Ljubljana, Slovenia)
Contract Type: Full-time, B2B
Salary: Up to €60,000 per year
We’re working with an independent game studio best known for a successful action title with deep melee combat. As they move into full production on their next PC & console project, they’re looking for a Game Designer with strong technical skills to join their team. This position can be fully remote (within Europe) or hybrid from their Ljubljana office.
This is a technically hands-on role where you’ll contribute across gameplay systems — from prototyping and iteration through to in-game implementation. The team is small and collaborative, and you’ll be working closely with programmers, designers, and artists to shape player-facing mechanics. While you won’t need to design melee combat systems directly, you must have worked on a game where melee combat was a core focus, and be familiar with the design principles that underpin that kind of experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement gameplay systems using Unreal Engine Blueprints.
- Prototype and refine game mechanics in collaboration with the wider team.
- Work across disciplines to deliver responsive, engaging features.
- Communicate technical and design intentions clearly and adapt based on feedback.
- Strong Unreal Engine experience, particularly with Blueprints.
- Solid understanding of scripting and gameplay system design.
- Experience working on a game where melee combat was a central gameplay element.
- Ability to work independently and manage features from concept to completion.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Based in Europe and able to work B2B with the studio.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Background in multiplayer or combat-heavy titles.
- Experience with balance tuning, control responsiveness, or iterative prototyping.
- Fully remote role (Europe-based) or hybrid from Ljubljana, Slovenia.
- B2B contract with salary up to €60,000.
