Position: Economy Designer

Are you passionate about creating engaging and sustainable gaming experiences? A leading cross-platform games community is looking for a creative and analytical Economy Designer to join their team. In this role, the Economy Designer will be the architect of economic systems behind innovative free-to-play games. Their work will help players immerse themselves in the games, play strategically, and enjoy a rewarding experience.

The company is one of the largest cross-platform games communities in the world, with a broad portfolio of over 40 casual online skill games.

As an Economy Designer, the candidate will design and optimize the economic mechanisms of the games, ensuring balance and player engagement through effective reward systems. They will work closely with the product and analytics teams to align the game economy with overall design and business objectives. Their insights and ideas will be crucial in refining the game economy post-launch based on data analysis and player feedback.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and optimize in-game currencies, sinks, and resources.
  • Develop frameworks for virtual goods and reward systems.
  • Monitor and adjust the game economy post-launch based on data analysis and player feedback.
  • Provide clear system and economy documentation, diagrams, calculation models, analyses, wireframes, and/or prototypes.
  • Communicate design decisions to the product team to align the game economy with overall design and business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers to match desired player behavior, systems, and creative game design.
Qualifications:
  • Proven successful work experience in game system design, balancing, pacing, and monetization strategies for F2P games (at least 3 years).
  • Background in economics, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.
  • Understanding of free-to-play game monetization principles, including in-app purchases.
  • Passion for board and card games with a deep understanding of mechanics, strategies, and concepts.
  • Ability to interpret data from player interactions, identify patterns and trends, and optimize game mechanics and player experience.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques like Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.
Education:
  • Background in maths, statistics, or economics with gaming experience, or significant experience as a game economy designer in the free-to-play casual market.
Experience:
  • 5+ years in game design, experienced to senior level (not lead).

Compensation:
  • Up to €65,000-€75,000, with a sweet spot around €70,000.
